Barcelona 1714. Stages of the War of the Spanish Succession

How was Barcelona like during the War of Succession? How was the siege of the city and its defense? And how did the city look when it surrendered?
The Museu d’Història de Catalunya proposes a walk through the principal stages of the War of Succession to Barcelona, the conflict that meant the abolition of the constitutions and the government institutions of the Principality, apart from  entailing great changes in the appearance of the city. Along the itinerary, we will visit the places where the siege took place, which lasted fourteen months and culminated  on the 11th September of 1714 with the assault of the borbòniques troops commanded by Felip V.

The main scenes were: Portal de Mar, Moragas monument, Pla de Palau, Fossar de les Moreres, Santa Maria del Mar, Passeig del Born, Palau Dalmases, Convent de Sant Agustí, Born Centre Cultural, Parc de la Ciutadella, Parliment of Catalonia.

Walking tour around the Barcelona of women

The Museu d’Història de Catalunya proposes visiting Barcelona through the eyes of different women that have inhabited it across the years.

Ciutat Vella has been the stage of the daily life of anonymous women with many different jobs. But it has also seen the day to day of queens, doctors, intellectuals and many influential women the name of whom has arrived until our days.
While strolling, we will analyze the historical evolution of the role of women in the Catalan society and we will discover those places where we can still find evidence of their legacy: the Roman wall, Palau Reial Menor, Jewish Jewry, Palau de la Comtessa de palamós, Mirallers street, Sant Pere and Francesca Bonnemaison library.
